Indus Delta Capital (IDC) and Sindh Forest Department, the project proponents of Delta Blue Carbon Initiative are pioneers in implementing at scale mangrove restoration in the delta area. The over-all mangrove restoration target under DBC-1 and DBC-2 project is around 425,000 ha. So far, an area of more than 80,000 has been successfully restored.
Propagules collection, their transportation and storage, mangroves nurseries raising and planting work are integral components of this restoration work. Using their decades long work experience and internationally accepted ecological mangrove restoration principles, the project proponents have developed a Protocol for mangrove restoration. To properly implement this Protocol, local communities and Forest Department staff are regularly trained in mangrove restoration through a number of foundational as well as refresher course trainings.
Here some glimpses of these training sessions are shown.
