Training on Marine Biodiversity Conservation and Coastal Ecosystem Protection

Delta Blue Carbon, in collaboration with the Sindh Livestock and Fisheries Department, organized a three-day Training on Marine Biodiversity Conservation and Coastal Ecosystem Protection from 21 to 23 May 2026 in the DBC-1 Project area. The initiative reached more than 70 community members, equipping them with the knowledge and practical understanding needed to conserve marine biodiversity while promoting the sustainable use of coastal and aquatic resources.

The training was delivered by technical experts from the Sindh Livestock and Fisheries Department, covering key topics including marine biodiversity conservation, fishing ban season regulations, the impacts of ghost nets and banned fishing gear, and sustainable fishing methods. Through interactive technical sessions, participants gained practical knowledge of responsible fishing practices, the importance of protecting marine ecosystems, and the role of healthy coastal habitats in sustaining both biodiversity and community livelihoods across the Indus Delta.

The initiative strengthens the capacity of coastal communities to protect marine biodiversity, adopt sustainable fishing practices, and contribute to the long-term conservation of the Indus Delta’s coastal ecosystems. Through continued partnerships and capacity-building initiatives, Delta Blue Carbon remains committed to empowering communities with the knowledge and skills needed to safeguard natural resources while supporting resilient and sustainable livelihoods.

Every sustainable aquaculture practice adopted today strengthens food security, protects biodiversity, and contributes to a more resilient and prosperous future for the coastal communities of the Indus Delta.
